Our teacher in kota used to give us example that your preparation to crack jee or neet is like a vector, only the magnitude (No of hours you study) does not matter but also your direction (the way u study). you need the keep the direction of your vector towards your goal. I have seen many students not getting good marks in competitive marks just because of their wrong direction. HOW TO DO SMART WORK FOR JEE AND NEET
ALWAYS KEEP THE TRACK OF THE SYLLABUS
If you are aspiring to crack any competitive exam like neet or jee or for that matter any kind of exam, the first to do thing is to know about that exam and even more important is to know what would you have to study to crack that exam. Now, I have seen many people who just take a rough idea of what the exam's syllabus is but they never look at the exact syllabus and these are the exact people who are always saying that "many questions came out of syllabus this year". So you guys should prepare by keeping in mind the latest syllabus of that particular exam you are preparing for and I am pretty sure you would see the results.
PRACTICE PREVIOUS YEAR QUESTIONS
Practicing from the previous year questions gives u an understanding of the level of your exam. Many times, Coaching centers practice papers are way too high level and students cannot cope up and end up getting less marks and make a perception that the original exams must have been very hard and this really effects their preparation. If you are someone who has not completed the entire syllabus then you guys can also go for chapter wise previous year questions rather that solving. There are many books available in market for that also which u guys can look up to and prepare for your exams.
Preparing scoring chapters in your exams is something that can really make a difference in your rank and results. Some people tend to waste so much time in those chapters whose weightage is actually very less in their exam resulting in poor results. Some chapters require deep understanding of subjects and are time consuming when studied thoroughly but their weightage in exam is very less according to the trends followed by previous year's exams and some chapters have a appreciable weightage in exams and are also not so hard to understand, So, which are u going to prefer to do when your exam is not far away?
Its pretty obvious that someone who has gone through previous trends and knows the weightage of chapters would choose the second one. I hope you guys would not do this mistake and get the best out of your hard work.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT BOOKS
Books are something that everyone relies on while preparing for an exam but many times Students does not know that which book should they follow and end up wasting a lot of time in changing their books and finding the right book for them. Sometimes students starts to follow multiple books and ends up getting confused between the ideologies of different authors. Also some students does not follow ncert textbooks and try to go for advanced level books without having the basic understanding which results in misconception. So, my suggestion is first you should look up to ncert textbooks and then if u want to go for some other books, ask your teachers or seniors for review and decide accordingly whether you should follow that book or not.
